An Epic Week

Okay let’s just call this an epic week. I even stepped outside my fish house today and pulled one in on my fly rod off the edge of the ice. It was ridiculous, I wish I had the whole thing on video.

Imagine one guy in lawn chair lazily casting a fly rod off a sheet of ice into open water, then hooking a fish while guy on dock mocks him and guy nearby is stretched out to the edge of the ice sheet with net trying to land the fish which keeps swimming down under the ice sheet. It would have made for a great video.

Another Epic Day

This past week has been fantastic ice fishing on Lake Superior for rainbow trout. It is crazy to think there would be fish-able ice in April on Lake Superior, but often times we don’t even start to get close to fish-able ice until March (if any at all). The ice doesn’t look like it will last long. It will only take one good wind to break it up and move it out. So one must take advantage of such a once-a-year or once every 2 or 3 year opportunity.

Here are some fish from this past week…
